“Be Safety Smart”

How do we know that the Fireplace Plug meets all safety Standards?

Enviro Energy has submitted the Fireplace Pug to many testing agencies for technical review  and feedback to ensure that we comply with all regulations that could apply to the safe use of the Fireplace Plug.

Canada CSA, US Underwriters Laboratories have both responded to our request with a determination that the Fireplace Plug is a unique product and that there are no existing standards for a device of this nature and therefore it is considered to be a Passive Product.  Further advise was given to ensure that the warning Caution No Fire Label remained in clear view for the end user.

Additional testing was done with Warnock Hersey for safe use in Gas type fireplaces.  After the destruction of 100 Fireplace Plugs the product was deemed to be safe for use.

Does the Fireplace Plug help to improve indoor air quality?

The answer is a definitive YES!  The fireplace chimney flue is lined with very dangerous by products of combustion.  The worst of these is Benzene which is considered to be a very dangerous carcinogen.

A properly installed Fireplace Plug effectively blocks these harmful contaminants from entering your home and posing a danger to your loved ones.

What considerations should be taken to safely install the Fireplace Plug?

The Fireplace Plug is safe and easy to install.  The following considerations should be followed to further ensure your personal safety.

1. Use lung power or non compressed air pumps only, to inflate the Fireplace Plug.  A battery operated air bed pump is a very good device to use.  For lung power it takes about 10 breathes of air for a medium sized fireplace for a completed installation.

2. If cleaning of the firebox is required before installation, then don safety glasses and protective gloves before proceeding.

3. Always inspect the firebox to ensure that there are not any sharp metal edges or corners that can damage the Fireplace Plug or injure the installer.  If found then they must be smoothed out and rendered harmless.  Again all safety precautions and equipment should be used to prevent injuries.

Is there an MSDS document for the Fireplace Plug?

Yes. Call us if you require a MSDS

We value our customers and their safety.

At Enviro Energy we value the safety of our customers.  That is why we include in all of our design stages an element of how can we assure the end user will experience a safe, simple and satisfying experience.

Please review the following elements of purposeful safe smart designs as well as information to the end user to ensure the safe use and handling of the Fireplace Plug.

How is the Fireplace Plug designed to stop someone from lighting a fire when the product is installed?

The Fireplace Plug has been on the market since 1996.  During that period we have not had any information or feedback from customers that they have lit the Plug on fire by accident.

We have designed the Fireplace Plug with a tool called a Reminder Stick.

The Reminder Stick is attached to the Plug and it’s purpose is to help to simplify the installation as well as when it is installed it acts as a REMINDER that there is something in the fireplace that is blocking the ability to have a fire.  In addition to the Reminder Stick we also attach an orange fluorescent sticker on the Reminder Stick cautioning not to light a fire without removing the Fireplace Plug.
